You can also specify there which screen will be the full-screen display (rather than whichever display the window happens to be on when you invoke full-screen). In the Preferences, go to the Video pane and un-tick "Black screens in Fullscreen mode". However, if you prefer VLC then you're in luck. There are many gripes about this on the web. Sure that might make sense for some situations, but I wish they made it configurable as it's effing annoying. Now, when i load up a movie file or a DVD using either apples DVD Player app or VLC (my main preferred video playback app) and i double click on the video screen to go to full screen what happens is that the video goes to full screen BUT! the other monitor will go black and i cant do anything other than see the cursor arrow on it.
